Today was a quiet day, we had a late breakfast, 8.30 because we have an opposed run out tonight against the lads from the Mounties. It is out of season for them so they are putting a scratch side together just so that we can train against a team which is great for us. In the morning we have some light weights sessions split into backs and forwards and then a light lunch with the afternoon to think about our own jobs tonight.
The Mounties pitch is not very far from Crown Plaza so we get there fairly quickly, Sam our bus driver had been great. All of the players get a run out tonight to make sure we are aware of the moves and particularly the defensive options. I scored a try which gave the lads quite a bit to cheer about, but I was only 5 yards out still enough space to do the foot shuffle and then in under the posts.
After the game the Mounties had laid on a bar-b-q for both teams and the spectators that turned up. I wish some of our clubs would do this for our games.
We got back to the hotel around 9.30 and then off to bed. We have a free day tomorrow with the option of bus into Sydney with Sam and take in the sights or a day at the beach in Manly. I know which one I am picking.
The team was announced today, 13 players 4 players for the bench and me as 18th man. That means if anyone drops out between now and then I am at least going to be on the bench, if not then I'll have to keep training hard for the next game. This is a squad, we all have to work for each other and are happy to do it.
